what to expect during your visit

Here at Battlefield Body Piercing & Tattoo, we are committed to honoring the safety and overall comfort of our clients. The following are guidelines we stand by firmly:

  • No children or animals are allowed inside the shop. Children who are getting pierced must be 5 years of age or older and accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

  • WE DO NOT PIERCE CHILDREN UNDER AGE 5. Appointment is required for children under 10 years of age. We offer appointments for young children looking to be pierced on Tuesdays-Thursdays. Please call ahead of time to schedule.

  • We require proof of age for anyone getting pierced or tattooed. In NYS, you must be 18 years of age or older to be tattooed. Acceptable forms of identification are a driver’s permit/license, passport, or military ID.

  • We require proof of guardianship for minors getting pierced. This includes a birth certificate, passport, military ID, or a driver’s permit/license with matching last name & address to parent’s government issued photo ID. All documents must be presented in person; we do not accept photographs of birth certificates or ID cards.

  • Please be sure to eat something prior to your visit. If you plan on getting pierced or tattooed, it is important for your safety not to come in on an empty stomach. Be sure to have a MEAL prior to any procedure. Outside food & beverage are restricted to the main lobby. Water bottles and small snacks will be permitted upon artists discretion.

  • We are unable to pierce with outside jewelry. We have a wide selection of implant grade titanium & 14k gold options as well as genuine diamonds to select from. It is not necessary to bring your own jewelry in.

  • Written aftercare instructions will be provided. In order for your new piercing or tattoo to heal properly, it is important that you stick to our recommended regimen for aftercare. Your tattoo or body piercing artist will go over this with you during your appointment, as well as provide you with a written copy. We do have aftercare products for sale, such as Dr. Bronner’s castile soap and NeilMed saline spray.

  • We accept both cash & card payment. We have an ATM in the shop that will not charge any extra to your card. However, a small processing fee will be added to any card transactions.

 Piercing Aftercare

Keep your piercing clean! Be sure to not touch or play with a new or healing piercing. The only appropriate time for you to touch your piercing is when you’re doing your aftercare. Aftercare should consist of a liquid, fragrance free soap and a sterile saline spray. Both should be used 3 times daily for the first 2-3 months of healing unless instructed otherwise. Make a soapy lather in wet hands and gently massage and move your jewelry for roughly 10-15 seconds. Once your jewelry is clean, you can then spray the sterile saline on your piercing and gently massage. Once both items have been used, make sure to flush out any aftercare with distilled water. If you have hard water or well water, this is a must, due to the presence of minerals. After the initial 2-3 months, you can drop your cleanings down to once daily. Typical healing time for ANY body piercing or implant is anywhere from 8-12 months. Fresh body piercings CANNOT BE SUMBURGED under water for the first 6-8 weeks, so plan accordingly. Showers excluded.

Your piercing may look or feel healed after the first couple months, but you have much more healing to do over time. Please return to your piercer with any and all problems or questions.

ORAL PIERCINGS

Any new or healing oral body piercing should be rinsed with mouthwash “doesn’t have to be antiseptic” every time you eat, drink, or smoke anything for the first 2 weeks of healing. After the first couple weeks you can cut down on rinsing to 2-3 times a day until about 6 weeks in. After the initial 6-8 weeks MOST oral piercings should be good for a post/bar downsize. Return to your piercer when possible for a check up at this time. Be sure to LEAVE YOUR PIERCING ALONE unless cleaning. Piercings, especially oral piercings can become irritated if constantly moving and being touched. Stay away from spicy food during this time as well.

Please don’t hesitate to call the shop if you have any questions

Tattoo Aftercare

  1. With clean hands remove your bandage after at least 30 minutes, but no more than 2 hours. Do not re-bandage your tattoo.

  2. Using your hands, wash your tattoo with a mild unscented antibacterial soap such as liquid dial. Pat dry with a clean paper towel.

  3. Apply a very thin layer of ointment such as Eucerin Aquaphor. Do not use too much ointment, but just enough that you can rub in similar to applying lip balm.

  4. Repeat steps 2-3 three to four times a day, keeping your tattoo clean, and also allowing it to get air.

  5. After 4 days continue washing, but switch to an unscented lotion. Continue to wash and moisturize your tattoo until it no longer appears dry on its own. (While healing, your tattoo may peel similar to a sunburn, and this is normal).

Showering will not damage your tattoo, but don’t use a washcloth or loofah on the tattooed area.

Some discomfort or swelling the first day or two is normal and won’t last. Your tattoo may leak excess plasma or blood for the first night, so be aware of your clothing and blankets.

    DO NOT

-Submerge your tattoo in water, including swimming, hot tubs, and baths.

-Subject your tattoo to direct sunlight, artificial or natural.

-Allow your tattoo to come into contact with unclean surfaces, such as gym equipment or pet areas.
